Neonatal nursing is more than a profession — it’s a calling built on compassion, skill, and teamwork. In Uganda, nurses and midwives caring for newborns are scattered across hospitals and health centers, often working under challenging conditions. The Uganda Neonatal Nurses Association (UNNA) was established to bring them together under one strong, unified voice.

UNNA serves as a professional home for all nurses and midwives working in neonatal care or pursuing neonatal training. Through membership, nurses access opportunities for capacity building, mentorship, continuing professional development (CPD), and leadership growth. The association also advocates for better working conditions and recognition of neonatal nursing as a specialty.

A strong community means shared learning and mutual support. When one nurse develops a new idea or tool, UNNA helps others learn from it. When a hospital faces a challenge, another member shares a solution. This spirit of collaboration keeps the profession alive and growing.

The association’s programs also link nurses with policymakers, universities, and international partners who share the same goal — improving neonatal outcomes. Through partnerships and networking, UNNA ensures that neonatal care in Uganda aligns with global best practices while addressing local realities.

Every nurse who joins UNNA strengthens this community. Together, members are building a professional network rooted in excellence, safety, and compassion.

Let’s continue working hand in hand — transforming neonatal care thru’ passion & innovation.
