The composition of the neonatal nurses of Uganda is, all the nurses and the midwives working in the NICU, and or have had a formal neonatal qualification, a neonatal short course training, in service training or are perusing the neonatal training to attain specialty. We shall have one unifying name; Neonatal Nurse. Therefore, we, the neonatal nurses of Uganda, recognize the critical role we play in neonatal care and are committed to advancing the profession, hereby establish the Uganda Neonatal Nurses Association (UNNA) to promote excellence, safe and quality of care in neonatal nursing practice, education, research and innovation.

The association started by gathering all NICU nurses working both in government, private and private not for profit Hospitals across the country. Started on 24th. may. 2024, need an assessment need and about 86% of I nurses desired to have a formal training, improve and standardize neonatal care in the country. we started CMEs, Webinars, people started adding on us day by day and now we have over 563 members. Today we are preparing to celebrate the world prematurity day as an association, we have prepared a Run to fundraise for the two teaching Hospitals and one big regional referral hospital ( Entebbe, Kabale, and Soroti).
